Sometimes when I surf the internet, besides get the webpages I am surfing, I also get another window displayed nothing and at the place where the address of the normal page is displayed, this window has "about:blank" in the webpage address. Normally I just close this window and see what I am surfed. What is this extra "about:blank" page? Is that a virus? I used my anti-virus software to scan and found nothing. Hope someone can explain this to me. Thanks.

paranoia is a bad thing :) about:blank is simply a blank page or pop up ok. Don't believe me, open your IE options and select the blank page as your home page :) see what the url is !!! hope it helps

It's probably just a pop-under window that loads when you're surfing sites. Some sites use these for advertising but do not have them pop up directly above your current window. Anything that says "about:blank" probably means that it could not load the page for the pop-up and means that there is no code to show in the browser window. Nothing to worry about! To prove this, actually try typing something like "about:nothing" in your current browser window and see what happens! Pretty harmless, huh? :)
