IF it included a HijackThis log WITHOUT stating that you had already tried such things as SpyBot, AdAware etc then this is the reason: otherwise the forum will be taken over by lengthy report lists!!

Ray is right on, besides there are forums that almost totally dedicated to analyzing "hijackthis" logs. It is clearly posted that Adaware and Spybot must have been used and they failed to get rid of the spyware problem before you make you post.

OK...SPYBOT, ADAWARE 6, SPYSWEEPER, HIJACK, AND CWSHREDDER WERE ALL USED WITH NO LUCK this is why I posted on this site!

Yes...I am aware of the other sites and have posted on them as well also with not much help. This site was the only site that actually had the correct answer to my problem!!

Lin1234, I did not see your post. If you did state in the post that you used everything and needed more help, then I too am puzzled! There are so many people just posting hijackthis logs, not only here in secuity and virus, but in the XP/2000/ME/98, that things were getting out of hand. The moderators were doing everything possible to help the helpers. Many times the log is posted, no problem or no other information is provided about what is going on with the computer. If you are still having a problem, repost, because the people here really do their best to help. Take care and all the best!

Hi Lin, I feel your pain. I did not save
my answer to your post, but I can give
you an example post.

Peper trojan removal

Download and run this file to fix Peper Trojan:

http://home01.wxs.nl/~kleyn080/uninst.exe

double click on 'uninst.exe', let it run and terminate.

To delete all the associated files download the following tool:
http://www.mjc1.com/files/mo/drpeper.html
It will self extract to C:.

Find the file:
C:\drpeper\Find backup and Delete Peper files.vbs file and double click.

On the first prompt copy and paste:
Select one of the filenames in the running processes.
example:C:\WINDOWS\System32\Rcjj.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\JvfMa7R.exe

(your files will look like those)

And hit ok.
You will get a confirmation and proceed:

On the second, paste:
Type in the filename where the startup entry points to.
And hit ok
example:O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [4X@95ME57C5BM8] C:\WINDOWS\System32\FmrCj.exe
(The 14 letters and numbers give it away)

It will find all the files, delete them and will make backups in the same folder.
It'll open a text file (Peper.txt) with the list of all files deleted.
Check that .txt file to see if no legitimate files were removed.

Another forum that can help:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Good luck
Abnormal
