what free antivirus programs work good

Specs: Windows XP, athlon 3000

i have avg free 9.0 i think it slows my pc down

Antivirus software is only as good as its definition files. Unfortunately, most fully functioned antivirus programs are system resource intensive. AVG is a good solution. You might want to consider doing a clean install, and/or upgrading a few parts like your memory.

avast is better than avg(proved by pc world and avtest.org)and dosent eatup your pc's speed

The antivirus software is as bad as the virus. None is my fav.

the best I have found is Microsoft Security Essentials. It is pretty effective.
