My internet explorer keeps resetting itself to goto C:\searchpage.html. I cannot use the address bar to access webpages. I can however use the history to get to google and then do a search and access pages. I have ran a norton scan and came up with nothing. I have tried running a spyware program and removed everything. I can't get rid of this. It keeps coming back. I have tried resetting the homepage address but it keeps resetting itself. Any ideas?

It's not a spyware program. It's an adware bug from:
http://www.master-search.com/

I had this one too, except the page it referred to was searcheverything.cc or something like that.
I removed it (files and registry), but the day after my harddrive stopped working on my computer (ony on my computer, it works fine on another one!). On bootup the system shuts itself down (before HD is detected by bios). Without that HD installed, the computer works fine. It's a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 120 GB.
I don't know if this has anything to do with the search.cc. Can anyone help me???

I had the same problem. My soution is simple: AD-aware. It cleaned it right out and some others i had no idea was on my computer. The cause for me was installing programs that was being sponsored by other sources. So installing certain software (from the net)includes the sponsoring software to also be installed as part of the installation.

I hope this info was of use to you.

I believe this may have a DLL running that's modifies the registry and creates c:\searchpage.html soon after you clean it up.

This morning I isolated some suspiscious DLLs that were in the windows system directory, cleaned the reg and deleted searchpage.html. After a reboot I was not reinfected. Anyone else with similar luck, or is this being posted elsewhere?

I am not sure if this is truely a fix, I was in a bit of a rush this morning. I am going to take a look at those DLLs tonight, couldn't bring my laptop to work.

Hi,

Here is the ONLY remedy to get rid of this searchpage.cc/1524:

**How to uninstall searchpage.cc/1524

On that annoying page (searchpage.cc/1524)go to the bottom and click on "if problem". The following will come up:**

If you don't want to continue using this page, follow instruction below:

1. Download uninstaller (right click and choose "Save target as.." from pulldown menu

2. Run it

3. Reboot your PC

4. Run it second time

5. Change your start page to "about:blank" in the IE settings (Tools -> Internet Options)

6. Click "Start" -> "Run" -> regedit

7. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\

8. Select key {FF1BF4C7-4E08-4A28-A43F-9D60A9F7A880} and delete it

Enjoy with your clear PC, and stop looking for free porn - try to buy membership on a good paysite.

**After I did that, I went to C\searchpage again to make sure it was out of my c drive. Then I went to start>run>regedit>findtype>searchpage.html>find next.
It pulled up all the searchpage in my compy I deleted all but the uninstaller which I had stored Under my anti-hijack folder just in case this happened again.

***This worked fine for me-Good Luck***

Having serious problems with this. I can't get to any other page than searchpage. However, I am going to searchpage cc.1525, not 1524. I've tried Denonline's advice, but then my IE won't boot as it is looking for the searchpage.html. I can't do Worfette's advice as there is no "if problem" button on the searchpage that I am going to. No matter what URL I put in, I always get redirected to searchpage.html. Would installing the latest version of IE and service pack do anything? Any advice would be great. I'd hate to have to reinstall my O/S and drivers all over again. I hope someone has a quick solution. Damm free porn.

I take my response (number 12) back. It worked initially, and searchpage.html no longer shows up in c:, but the IE homepage still resets itself to searchpage.html, which of course the computer cannot find now.

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Guys, I really need your help!
I got infected by this file while surfing the net:
"C:/searchpage.html"
I have had in my computer for a while and I can't get rid of it! I was able to rewrite it so it will reditrect to my origanl homepage(www.google.com. But it sill there and everytime I try to delete it, it rewrites iteself. I tried using "Hack This" and that didn't work. Then I tried using "CWShredder", but that didn't work either. Then I tried using "Pest Patrol" and they said I need the Licensed version to delete stuff.
I found it in the following files in the registry:
HCU/software/microsoft/Internet Explore/Main:
Default_Page_URL
Default_search_URL
Search Bar
Search Page
Start Page
And all said under the data column "C:/searchpage.html". I didn't delete them because i'm afraid that it will harm my computer.
Please, Help me! I am depsrate! I am opened to any ideas, on how to delete this file except for downloading stuff at "http://www.master-search.com/" because I hear thats where it comes from.

Thanks and best of luck to others.

-Mike

Message mainly for Denonline

I have done what you sain in Response Number 8, and it worked fine.

But now, it I have the same problem as Andy in 'Response Number 8'. I have then restored the file "searchpage.html" from the recycle-bin and now I have the exact problem as at the beginning.

Could anyone who knows a sure way to remove that help please?..

And Denonline, please can you tell us if you had had this problem of not being able to open your browser when deleting the file "searchpage.html" from C:/ and what you did then...

The Dragon Lord,
