Comment: Hello there, my Norton Antivirus has been finding all these viruses from something called : C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ftpupd.exe and finds a different virus every time. Norton says that they have deleted it, but it keeps coming back. Anyone out there who can help me?

Reply: (edit)I am having these problem as well.... however, these are the suggestions given to me but didn't work for me... 1) Scan for virus in safe mode. 2) delete the file manually that is infected with these virus. 3) Go to start, run... regedit... search for "ftpupd" and delete if found any. Hope these will help. If you have better suggestion, do email me at andiz@mail.com as I have similiar probelms.

Reply: (edit)hi dave, and andy, andy first you must delete the value in the registry, do a search for ftpupd file in the registry and delete the value. reboot your computer, get the latest virus defs, then go into safe mode and scan your computer. i don't know if you are using XP andy but if you are follow the same instructions as follows: reboot your computer in normal mode disable system restore, get your latest virus defs, then reboot into safe mode, scan with your anti-virus, anti-trojan, adaware, spybot, delete all files they come up with. clean your cache, temp files, history and cookie folder, and recycle bin. reboot into normal mode, re enable system restore. all the best, murve
