so starting today i get a virus alert window from norton everytime i try to play counterstrike 1.6

the virus is generically labeled "trojan horse" and is always located in a .tmp file found in

C:\Documents and Settings\Ollie\Local Settings\temp

norton said it was denied access to the files so i scanned in safe mode and deleted anything it found. but upon completion and a reboot into normal windows im still unable to play counterstrike. whenever i launch the game it gives me the norton warning and steam pops up an error box saying the game is unable to run at this time.

any help?

thanks in advance!

Just a suggestion, wouldn't it be easier to unload Norton and try some other AV like Avast or AVG? They are both good and FREE, and if you need a good Firewall, Comodo Pro ids also free and works great.

I would suggest Avast because of it's real-time protection at detecting viruses which not too many other AV's have. If you decide using it, let Avast do a bootscan on reboot....you'll be surprised what Norton hasn't detected. Also the up-dates are also in real time so you never need to schedule scans or up-date times...just a thought plus great protection.

If you do decide to change AV's, be sure to get the Norton Uninstaller from their webpage, because a normal uninstall will not work because Norton is imbedded on your PC. If any remnants are left you will have nothing but problems.

I'm suggesting this for home use, if you have your PC in a work environment you may want the corporate edition. Good Luck

thanks for the advice...iv always had a grudge against norton but its kinda been a thing my dad just keeps buying lol.

and about the problem, iv come to the conclusion that norton is just over sensative and there is really no virus at all...

i remembered that this all started happening once i updated norton completely
