Subject: Websiteviewer problems, please helpOS: Windows XPCPU/Ram: Dimension 4500 |
Comment: Hi, I know nothing about computers but I know I have a virus of some sort. Ever since about September or so, this thing called Websiteviewer has been causing big problems on my computer. Apparently, it's some sort of porn dialer and it connects me to it's database every now and then and kicks me off my AOL connection. I've tried spybot and spydoctor but they only serve as a temporary fix as the problem will come back a half hour later (Like just now). I've heard about this "HijackThis" program log thing so I will do it and post my findings, hopefully so that you guys can help me pick out what the problem is before I get another bill charging me for some virus that uses my modem to connect itself to some high charging web site. Thanks for your time for this very, very, very annoying problem.

Reply: (edit)Hello! I see that you are having some pc issues? First off,are you using an antivirus,or Antispyware software? If so?Please fully update them before we start...If you dont have an Av,or Antispyware software?then i would recommend that you scan your system with housecall from the link below, and also download Spybot,Ad-aware and fully update them, and scan your system.....You may also want to download Hijackthis from the same site and update it,but dont use it until we have completed these first steps... Spybot,Ad-aware,Hijackthis click here! Housecall 2.After you have completed the system scan with Trendmicro,Spybot,Ad`aware, please post back with info on the findings.

Reply: (edit)I bet he does not have most of the Security updates for Windows XP, much less SP2 installed. Maybe he should include that information as well.

Reply: (edit)OK, sorry for the delayed response. Anyway, I downloaded the Ad-Aware SE program, Spybot and Spyware doctor and they all detect the problem, the porn dialer thing and they say they deleted it, but then it'll come back in an hour or so. I'll download the Hijackthis program and await further instructions. Thanks for the help!
