i have two servers at home behind a firewall one is debian linux (based off of knoppix hd install) the other netserver (windows server) i am looking to host a web page from behind my firewall i understand port forwarding and i have a public ip (static) rather than pay for a domain name im using geocities as a splash page and then a redirector to my server the stupid question i have is when i hyperlink to my server files and web page what ports do i need to open for a web and ftp server i know the standard port 80 etc but what all ports do i need and whats the best way of going about this sorry for such a newb question i have posted a webpage before but it was completly on someoneelses box so i really never learned the nuts and bolts underneath it all

Okay. Set your router to accept incoming requests on port 80 via TCP to the internal, private address of your server on the port your decide. This is port forwarding.
On your server, block all the ports you can except the port you have chosen to run the server on (from the Internet's perspective, the port is 80, at your router you can decide which port to transfer the connections to). In the server configuration, specify which port you want to server to run on.
