Im just wondering if a web page could reboot a computer because mine just did so while I was browsing some pics at a page which I was directed to from fark.com.The page,as it turns out was a porn site.
http://go.fark.com/cgi/fark/go.pl?IDLink=921970&location=http://www.infinite-passion.net/2/kop7/
I was told from a couple people that it is possible for malicious attack to occur from web pages but cant remember exactly how.I remember this happened to me twice last year at a site (not porn) I use to frequent, but never figured out how they did so.
Im behind a hardware & software firewall with all critcal updates. Also its not PSU or driver issue.
Input please?

ActiveX objects might be able to do it. Spywareblaster blocks ActiveX objects it considers dangerous. Everybody should install it.

As an experiment, you could set all ActiveX options to prompt. Then go to the site you think caused the problem (I'm not going there). If you get an ActiveX prompt at the point where you previously rebooted, I think you have your answer.

A fark NSFW boobies link and you weren't expecting a porn site? Anyway, security is one of the many reasons I use Mozilla Firefox. Just because you have all the IE updates doesn't mean it's secure. There are currently many unpatched IE vulnerabilities.

There have been a few vulnerabilities in Mozilla, but I've never heard of them actually being exploited, and they're always fixed quickly. Also, IE vulnerabilities usually tend to be more severe because of IE's integration into the OS.
