I have problem entering any browser. All I get after I click the icon, whether it is IE or Firefox, is the usual Internet explorer cannot display the page.

NOTE : I have to use another computer to seek a solution to this problem.

I have checked my dsl connections. I have checked my TCP/IP connections. DHCP is enabled.

I tried to do the TCP/IP connections manually and typed the IP address , gateway pass etc.

At the moment, Lan settings show I am connected.

Background:
My son types on the address box when he goes into a site. He doesn't use the search engine box.

The day before the browser stopped working , he mistyped you tube and entered instead another website (outube or yotube not sure) that had an WOT red colored rating.(potentially dangerous site).

He went out of the site and entered facebook and ym and stayed there for the rest of the evening and closed the computer.

The next day I opened the computer to surf but the LAN settings first displayed limited or no connectivity, after I set it to manual and returned to automatic, it then showed a connection. However, I could not enter IE or firefox browsers. I had a NODE 32 antivirus but I made the mistake of uninstalling it. Before this, however, I already did a complete scan which did not detect any virus. I also uninstalled Firefox. I also tried putting down the firewall, just to see if I could enter IE.

Situation now:

Lan connection is connected.
No anti-virus
Cannot update windows.
Cannot enter internet even in SAFE mode.

No luck. Please help me what are the steps to follow. Thanks and would appreciate it very very much.

I have a feeling its not just the browser that is the problem. According to my ISP provider my connection to their DSL is working fine and that the problem would probably be with the computer itself. And if this is so where do I look? the Internet Connection Icon indicates Limited or no connectivity and when I try to repair in the TCP/IP properties it says something like unable to renew IP address. I have checked the ethernet card via Device Manager and it says the device is working properly. So I do not know where next to go?

The greatest frustration is when I use Safe Mode with Networking there is still no Lan connectivity. The only tell tale signs of the problem are:

1. Internet connection icon shows Limited or no connectivity.
2. When I went to run / cmd, a problem with ipconfig renew appeared and showed something like there is a problem with interface of Lan connection and with the DHCP server.

If there the browsers got hacked could the lan connection get hacked too? and even in safe mode?
