Was our computers data copied by hacker??

Specs: Windows Vista
I have Vista. My husband has 7. I was logged onto our home internet connection...let's call it "Williams." I got some message about Home Group and sharing and somehow ended up connected to "Williams 2." We don't have a Williams 2 connection at our house. I didn't really think about it until later. A window popped up and showed my computer, MyName-PC, and another computer, Consumer-PC. There were some other icons, one looked like an external hard drive on the picture. I clicked on some of them out of curiousity. The only thing I could get to was videos off my computer. Again, I didn't think much about it. Went about my merry way. Then later, my computer started freezing up and I had problems. I finally had to shut it down. When I started it back up, it beeped like it has never beeped before. It ended up starting OK and seems to be fine. Could someone have copied the data on my computer??? Is there anything I can do to see if that happened? I have a lot of sensitive information on my computer.
