Help I have got this virus in my Outlook Express on Windows XP.
I have gone into symantec and downloaded the fix tool - everytime I clear it it comes back into my inbox - but duplicates itself - I am currently up to 21 emails.
I run Norton to check the system and no virus' are present.
Can anyone please suggest something to get rid of this menace.
Thanks
Clare

Are you sure that you followed all of the steps that Symantec has to use the tool properly. Since you have XP, and you say that you use the tool and then you run a scan and there is no virus, but later it comes back. I would guess that you have not disabled SYSTEM RESTORE before you use the tool. You disable SYSTEM RESTORE by right clicking MY COMPUTER, select SYSTEM RESTORE and turn it off. You then use the tool. After the system is clean turn SYSTEM RESTORE back on. This would be a good time to use the slider to set the slider at 2% of your hard drive instead of 10% if you have a larger hard drive to save space. Take care and all the best!

That's odd, system restore shouldn't have any effect on AV programs. Make sure that all of the definitions for the aV programs are up to date. Also, make sure that the tool is the right one for the job, so to speak. If you try to repair a virus with the wrong tool, it make seem to work (e.g. W32.Klez.H@mm and W32.Klez.H@mm.enc are different) but not totally nuke it.

Best of luck. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your advice both of you - I've been tearing my hair out for the last 2 days.
I had switched off the system restore - but I think my problem lay with Outlook Express as messages were building up and freeserve was disconnecting me. I let them come all 24 of them - quaranteeing what I was able to - and then running the clean up tool.
As of 3 hours ago I am clear - no more coming in - fingers crossed.
Cheers
Clare
