w32/pate.b Virus

I have w32/pate.b on my systems and McAfee/Norton instructions for removal do not work. Formatting is not an option in this situation. How can I remove this? Thanks, DAN

hey i have the same virus i have mcaffe but i cant open it cause it eats all my exe files it can get to i odnt no how to get ride of it i cant find my reformat disk and i tried that site it disinfected one of the viruses and only said i had 3 files infected but when i do the free scan online for my mcafee it says i have more then 50 files infected i dont kno wut to do to get ride of all the files or disinfect them i guess i have to call hp to see how to reformat it but if u guys no somthing tht will disinfect all of the files plz tell me thanks

I also have this virus, i went to http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/ and i downloaded the program and it said it deleted the virus, but the programs still wont open. Do i need to reinstall my programs now or do i still have the virus?

I ALSO have this virus, but I have a little information for you guys, this virus DOES NOT HURT your computer, it just infects your files, well it turns out that McAfee and my NERO burning rom tell you when the .exe's have been modified, so the only way it can hurt you is to stop your programs from opening. Oh also, Robert, my mcafee "Cleaned" my files too, even some system files, and CORRUPTED them, Lucky im a little expirienced with computers (windows wouldnt load, I had to do stuff through command prompt!)
