Hi everybody,
My computer had got infected with the W32.Nimda.E@mm virus yesterday, which was detected by Norton 2000. It was unable to repair or delete the infected file. The infected file also could not deleted using Windows Explorer. After restarting the computer, the infected file vanished. I was still in doubt so I scanned the computer with Norton, which got stuck up midway and I had to manually switch off & on my computer. After that I scanned using AVG 6.0, which showed the following result:---------------
Results of Complete Test, date and time 9/3/2002 23:58:31 :

21477 objects tested, 0 found infected---------------
I was worried why it couldn't scan those 4 files, so I scanned them using Norton, which said they were not infected. Later I scanned the computer using the W32.Nimda.E@mm removal tool of Symantec, which said the the virus was not found in the computer. However, I couldn't follow the preferable/optional instruction for running this tool, of downloading it to a removable media and running it from there. Can I be sure my computer is free of this virus?

I've heard that there is no cure for this virus.I mean,u can download the removal tools but files are infected.
Try scanning again with norton.

I had a similar problem that I posted yesterday under "w32.nimda.enc virus". post#2081. Maybe it will help.
