My issue, I think, is somewhat unique. I haven’t been able to find information about it. Regardless, I subscribe to Lingo VOIP. The telephone adapter works sort of like a hub with only one port.
As I am often concerned about security on my PC, I go to GRC.com and use ShieldsUp. Typically, my ports appear to be stealth, when my computer is connected directly to my DSL modem. However, when I install the telephone adapter between the modem and my computer, all ports appear closed except for 4 (four) that appear to be open! Port 23 (telnet), port 80 (http), port 443 (https) and port 513 (remote login telnet) all appear to be wide open.
I have setup the adapter differently to avoid this exposure, but to the detriment of phone call quality. So, my question is, am I really exposing my computer if, when I take the Lingo device out of the loop, I appear to be stealth?

the ports that you are seeing open is the VOIP dev. Your Computer is ok. The only bad thing is if you are port scaned someboady is now home at your ip address.

Thank you for the response. While it is comforting that my computer is okay, you brink up a good point. I guess I'll put the phone adapter back behind my PC firewall and rig it the "unsupported" way... I don't know what else to do. Thanks again!
