Vista Total Security removal help

April 17, 2011 at 07:47:06
Specs: Windows Vista
I've been trying to remove a virus called Vista Total Security from my computer for a while now I have tried googling some removal guides but I cannot follow them as even in Safe Mode with Networking I cannot run a downloaded program, I'm locked out of pretty much all my programs I cant use CMD. The only process in task manager that I know is the virus is nyt.exe and after ending it as soon as try and open something or run something it doesn't want me to it appears back on task manager again straight away.
Can anyone help I really don't know what to do with this
Thanks Jordan.

Do you have access to another computer that is not infected, and to a clean flash drive?

If so, in a computer that is not infected, download FixNCR.reg from the following:

Save FixNCR.reg to a flash drive, and plug in the flash drive to the infected computer.

Now, boot the infected system to Safe Mode by tapping F8 (top row key), and select Safe Mode with Networking

In Safe Mode with Networking, sign in to your usual profile.

Run FixNCR.reg by double clicking on the file.

Next, still in Safe Mode with Networking, download iExplore.exe or eXplorer.exe, which are renamed copies of rKill (A program that attempts to terminate known malware processes):

Save the file to the Desktop, and double-click on it. (For Vista, right click and select: Run as Administrator)
Ignore any messages, and allow the file to run until the command window closes.

Without a reboot, download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (black button with green and white icon) Save to the Desktop:

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program. (For Vista, right click and select: Run as Administrator)

Run Malwarfebytes’ AntiMalware and update the program.
Once updated, select Perform Full Scan and click the scan button.

When the scan finishes, click OK in the message box, and you will see the results of the scan.

Click the Remove Selected button to get rid of the malware.

When Malwarebytes finishes, you may be prompted to reboot. If so, reboot.

Please post the Malwarebytes log in your reply..
