Hi I am new here and the reason I joined is this problem:

I think I either have a virus or some spyware. I have absolutely no idea where and how I got it as I am not one of the stupid kind that opens every email, downloads every file and such. But still my PC is infected somehow and I dont know what it really is so Ill tell some symptoms:

- Internet Explorer (iexplorer.exe) keeps opening by itself (in background). I can close it with Task Manager but eventually it opens again in 10 min...
- Some letters in internet browsers are much bigger than they should be, like in google for example. (not a big problem, but still something that shouldnt be)
- BIG problem: All internet browsers (FireFox, Opera and Internet Explorer) work totally slow. If I search something with google, I do get the searches but if I press on a link I always get directed to non-existing sites, and the link bar containst links such as ...=spyware...
- I have problems checking my email (hotmail). I even had problems to register here because of that. I couldnt open my inbox folder. What I had to do is close some svchosts in order to open my inbox.

So the main problems are: totally slow browsing and the fact that i cant get any info of google.

Online gaming works without problems, so its more or less only browsing.

And here some infos of tasks in task manager:
iexplorer.exe (opened by itself again)
8! svchost.exe (I think thats not normal)
2 of those are network services, one is local service others system.
lsass.exe <- Cant close it. I think this is normally a windows file but could also be a virus if im not incorrect. I remember that I had problems with lsass once but forgot how I solved it. I think thats the most important ones (also services.exe maybe?)
if anyone has any idea please post, any help is appreciated. thx

Btw. my antivirus software is NOD32.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from one of these sites:

MalwareBytes1

MalwareBytes2

1. Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
2. Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
3. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
4. Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan. The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
5. When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
6. Make sure that everything found is checked, and click Remove Selected.
7. When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.
8. The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
9. Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Please download and install the latest version of HijackThis v2.0.2:

Download the "HijackThis" Installer from this link:
Hijack This

1. Save " HJTInstall.exe" to your desktop.
2. Double click on HJTInstall.exe to run the program.
3. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
4. Accept the license agreement by clicking the "I Accept" button.
5.Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
6. Click "Save log" to save the log file and then the log will open in Notepad.
7. Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
8. Paste the log in your next reply.
9. Do NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet! Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I'm having an almost identical problem, except when i try to shut down svchost processes i get the old sasser worm "shutdown in 60 sec." message so i have to <run> "shutdown -a" i really have no idea what's going on with it since the sasser only infects xp and xp service pack 1, and i have xp fully updated. I'm running spybot SnD right now and it's fixed several other things that were going on but comes up empty with this one. i've also gone through my registry and start logs and removed the files that i thought were the problem but they're coming up anyway. i'll also try Malwarebytes and see what happens. Anyway, Thanks! I appreciate any help or suggestions anyone has to give.
