For the last two weeks i have been recieving random emails, upto 10 times a day with the same virus, (W32.Yaha.F@MM). Nav has been deleting these attatchments, however since last friday when i try to connect to the intetrnet using my dial up modem i recieve the error message "671 error unauthorised username or password".

Upon investigation i have discovered that my usual password has been changed automatically. Each time I reset it it is automatically changed to a unknown password with 17 characters. Subsequently i thought that, if i formated the hard drive several times this would irradicate the problem. But it didn't work.

At one time Nav2002 alerted me to a virus "Nav4_tmp" or something like that but was unable to remove it from C:Documents and settings/My account/Temp. Now when i use Nav it finds nothing. I had to go to my mates house to post this.

Please help, you're my only hope!

Go to the Symantec website and get the W32.YAHA.F@MM removal tool and instructions to clean your computer in the safe mode. One of the things the virus does is disable the antivirus program.

hi victim,
it is probably a problem associated with windows xp, in that it sometimes plays with your password configuration in your dial-up. i take it that you saved your password to start up everytime? it may be that windows xp is the problem, and the seventeen characters is the default windows xp output for the password, but in any event follow the capt.'s advice to be absolutely sure.
take care,
murve

I don't know here but when you FORMAT C:
Is that the only bit of the HD that gets wiped ?
To wipe the rest would you not have to re-partition first, then format C: ?
