Comment: Can someone PLEASE help me?! I am using a PC running Windows 98, and I got an e-mail virus called VBS/SST@MM. The infected file is in C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet. I am using McAfee virus scan, and when I click on CLEAN it says that it can't do it and that I shold delete the infected file and reinstall the program from my hard disk. Then when I click on DELETE it says that it may be deleted already, and it won't delete it. How do I get rid of this virus!?!? PLEASE someone help me!! Thank you!!

Reply: (edit)Do not format! If the file is really in the \TIF folder, go to IE and empty the browser cache. Since it is a VBS virus, it would appear you are behind in your security updates. Go to Windows update and apply all related to security. Also, download and install Script Sentry. http://jasons-toolbox.sectorlink.org/ It's the easiest way to block scripting (and other) type viruses.

Reply: (edit)I think I've got a virus, I don't know what its called or how to find out what it's called. But the effects of it are that it's sending blank e-mails to my friends, infecting them too. My computer has slowed down loads which might also be a effect of the virus, plus I'm having difficulties getting on and staying on the net!! I have not got much clue about computer jargon so if I do get a reply please be as simple as you can. I'm getting stressed, I need my computer to do my A-lavels. PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE!!!! Ps I think the virus was on the news!

Reply: (edit)I have a virus I can't get rid of. It spreads through instant messages. It shows up as an instant message but it sends itself. It shows up as a link, but its a virus. I've tried to use Norton Antivirus, but that didn't end it. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know, thanks
