Virus that can delete pdf files?

March 12, 2009 at 01:51:16
Specs: Windows XP
I suddenly found that, most of the pdf files and .ppt files in my drive D( on hard disk) have deleted and all the folders which contain pdf files shows 0 bytes as the capacity. (In the previous boot they are shown) But the pdf files in the other drives are not deleted. Sometimes may be the reason , I have installed some softwares in drive D as well as the drive C

My machine OS is windows XP SP2 and at that moment no antivirus software has installed in my machine. Then I installed the Symantec antivirus and scan the whole computer. Then I found 2 viruses from drive D. As I can remember one virus is something like Delezium.inf. I can't remember the name of the other virus.

So can any one please tell me what kind of virus can delete such files? If there is any, how can I restore my pdf and ppt files.

Why don't PC users backup their files? Why do they always wait until something happens? Did Symantec clean the viruses?

Try a system restore.

Yes, it can. Go back to a date before the problem started. Backup any files you created since then, first.
