ok i was searching some pages on the internet and a batch file looking thing popped up so i quickly pressed X because i think it was a virus but it was half way finished.
later on a mcafee (my security system) pop up came up and said Trojan found and removed...
later my windows security center RED shield came up saying your automatic updates are turned off so i click turn back on and it says that i need to do it through control panel so i go to system n automatic update and it says that its on but its not on please help (i have already turned off and on!)

That's the reason I use Avast free. It will alert you IMMEDIATELY of a virus and ask you to abort your connection.
Download Avast and allow it to do a bootscan on reboot and move all it finds to the chest.
See if that helps.
Also try Spybot S&D and be sure to immunize. If you use Ccleaner slim before avast and spybot it will clean out lots of excess junk and the scans will be quicker.
All these progs are listed in my signature link. Good Luck

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
