hi,
i have come across an interesting virus/spyware. i have never seen or heard of anything like it.... im currently at college and a fellow dorm member comes down saying her laptop is haunted.... loll... but anyway... the problem is that everywhere there is a cursor, ie- microsoft word, or browsers, random words and phrases type themselves.... it will generate different words over and over again. mostly incoherent.... but it will pause once in a while and then type things that are being said... like -why is it doing this- (there is a built in microphone in the laptop that is affected)... so my question is-- does anyone know what kind of virus or spyware it is? and how to remove it? does spyware or viruses have the kind of power to hack the microphone and recognize voices and type stuff all over the place? sounds pretty far fetched and hi level...
thanks!

HAve you scanned the system for Malware/Spyware?? with either Ewido or Spybot Search & Destroy
Also download and run Hijack This and Paste your log on the Analyzer Page to see what nastys may be lurking on the system.
Also do you have your Anti-Virus up to date and have you scanned the system?" It'll Get Ya When You Aint Lookin "
Please Post back to let us know if we helped

it can be the dirty game of friends. Maybe they infected you computer with trojan like netbus and have access to it from other computer...
In any case:
You need to find proper spyware removal program.
there are more than 400 spyware removers in the market: some of them are really bad and made to deceive you, others are quite good. Some of them are free of charge, some - are not.
Read reviews:
here is the list of good antispyware programs and here is the list of bad programs called corrupt antispyware.

"Does spyware or viruses have the kind of power to hack the microphone and recognize voices and type stuff all over the place?"
There are programs that can do that, one
of these may be installed.http://www.download.com/Voice-Recognition/3150-7239_4-0.html

try scanning for spyware and viruses in safe mode,
also check hardware connections and wiring
or sticking keyscheck for programs running in background and startup...
:)

hi all..
thanks for the suggestions... actually, the root cause wasnt spyware etc ... the speech recognition program was turned on somehow and it was the cause of the gibberish... heh...
