My wifes computer took a dump. A friend of mine reformated, installed XP professional and Norton anti-virus corporate edition. My computer (XP home) runs Mcaffee anti- virus and firewall. I want to install Mcaffee on my wife's computer because of the firewall (Norton is only anti-virus) but am wondering if Mcaffe will conflict because it along with the firewall, it also is anti-virus. Will the two virus programs conflict? is there a way to install the Mcaffee firewall but not the anti-virus? thanks everybody, you computer guys do us a great service.

Hi there, I don't know for certain, but I think having two anti-virus programs going at the same time could cause problems, the same with having two firewalls. I don't use McAffe, so I don't know if you can install just the anti-virus or not.

My guess is that there is probably a way around it, but seeing how it is a application "suite", there may not be a way. There is one way to find out, install it. But, before you do that, wait around in here for more replies. There are many in here with a vast amount of more knowledge than I.

There are several excellent FREE firewalls available: Seagate, Kerio and Zone Alarm. All 3 are mentioned regularly within these columns! All can be found via Google searches by name.
