Hi everyone,

When i try to run a virus scan or a spyware scan my computer will reboot and restart itself automatically without warning. Out of about 15 attemps of running both scans its only managed about 3 virus scans and about 5 spyware scans, I am using AVG free edition and AD-Ware SE personal.

The virus scan has detected Trojan horse downloader.Zlob.l, and Trojan horse downloader.Generic.NTA .NSY and .ns2. AD-ware detects the usual tracking cookies but Virtumonde is a constant thing. ive downloaded the removal tool for the trojan that downloads virtumonde and the removal tool for virtumonde itself but it always seems to come back.

Ive also tried symantec's online virus scanner but it also triggers a reboot when its scanning. Could a virus/spyware or damaged files be causing the reboots ? apart from formatting the hard drive im all out of ideas of what to do. any ideas??

Any help will be greatly appricated

cheers guys,
ghost

I know the same thing would happen if you have folder lock installed.Uninstall it if you have it, reboot and try the scans again.

i dont think ive got folder lock installed, how do i find this out ?

i've got 41 compressed folders that look there uinstall infomation for the various windows updates. They all look like this: $NtUninstallKB899587$ except the KB and the numbers are different on each one ofcourse. when you hover the mouse over it, it says size:, file "spuninst" and files:.

Ive also downloaded 2 programs that scan for a number of virus's, trojans and worms but they seem to pick up nothing. ive done a general serch on the net about my problem and theres several sites that suggest a number of virus but when i look on my system there is no evidence of them.
