Comment:

Whenever I do a clean install on Windows XP from an XP CD (format, fdisk, total clean install), within minutes of the PC going on the net, I start getting a virus alert message:

Viris Alert!
Detected as: bo:stack
State: BUffer Overflow Protection

We are running Mcafee and I can't seem to find any fix to this. We have all the latest updates, etc and I still get this message. In the box that pops up, the name is:

c:\windows\system32\svchost.exe:GetProcAddress

Has anyone seen this? I have check every forum, site that I can think of, but cannot find a fix.

Have you disabled the Windows messenger service?

We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true

what spyware checks have you done?
Also what I would do is d/l avast free antivurus, turn off McCrappy and then load the avast and let it scan on the first boot. That will probably catch the problem you have. It's worth a shot.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
