You could try a couple of freebies.

Trend Housecall is one:

Installs a wee bit of software and then runs a freebie (full if you tell it to) scan.. Will detect what it can, quarantine and fix... offer freebie to download/install; then update and run on your computer. It will co-exist nicely alongside Microsoft and other similar utilities...

I have it on my Xp and Win-7 systems alongside Microsoft Security Essentials package. Having "some doubts" though about just how good M$ SE is these days - after reading a few recent reviews and comments about it; apparently not quite what it once was...

Bitdefender offer a similar item, and Malwarebytes is frequently recommended by some of the long standers/olde-timers here... Perhaps check those last two out and install, run etc... Both get very strong reviews by users here.

Use Image Uploader to upload these files please.

Download OTL from any of the following links and save to your Desktop.
Double click the OTL icon to start the tool. (Note: If you are running on Vista or Windows 7 accept UAC alert)
When the window appears, underneath Output at the top, make sure Standard output is selected.
Select Scan all users
Change Drivers to All
Under the Extra Registry section, check Use SafeList
In the lower right corner, checkmark "LOP Check" and checkmark "Purity Check".
Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted.
When the scan is complete, two text files will be created on your Desktop. Copy & Paste the contents of both logs in your next post please.
OTL.Txt <- this one will be opened
Extras.txt <- this one will be minimized

Just for info, Windows Defender is almost the same thing as Microsoft Security Essentials. If you have MSE on XP you don't need or want Windows Defender too.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

True re' Windows Defender... I get frequently konphused as to which one can replace the other when the other is part of the more combined/composite suite from M$...

But then I get easily konphused at tymes...

Now what were we discussing...?
