Hi There,
I have a virus that keeps renaming itself and keeps coming back after I remove it/reboot. It is preventing me from accessing my CD drive. Pls help!

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from one of these sites:
1. Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
2. Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
3. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
4. Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan. The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
5. When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
6. Make sure that everything found is checked, and click Remove Selected.
7. When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.
8. The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
9. Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Please download and install the latest version of HijackThis v2.0.2:
Download the "HijackThis" Installer from this link:
Hijack This
1. Save " HJTInstall.exe" to your desktop.
2. Double click on HJTInstall.exe to run the program.
3. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
4. Accept the license agreement by clicking the "I Accept" button.
5.Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
6. Click "Save log" to save the log file and then the log will open in Notepad.
7. Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
8. Paste the log in your next reply.
9. Do NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet! Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Ok Here is the Notepad from mbam:

Please download ComboFix to the desktop from one of the following links:
Combofix is a powerful tool so follow the instructions exactly or you could damage your computer.
Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with Combofix and remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
Click on This Link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.In your case to run Combofix do the following:
1. Go offline turn off your Shaw Secure antivirus, and any anti-spyware that you may have.
2. Run Combofix and save its log.
3. Restart the computer to get the antivirus running again but leave the antispyware programs off until we get the computer cleaned.
4. Post the Combofix log.
Remember to re-enable the protection again afterwards before connecting to the Internet.
Double-click combofix.exe
Follow the prompts.
(Don't click on the window while the program is running or move the mouse, it will cause your system to hang.)
Please post the log it produces.

Ok, here it is:

You should keep AFT Cleaner and run it weekly.
Make sure your Trend Micro realtime scanner (it should have started with the antivirus).
You should consider adding "Spywareblaster" to your arsenol of antispyware tools, you can download it from this link Spywareblaster
Just download it,install it, and update it. Its free and runs in the background, so you don't actually run it, and re-writes malicious script before it can install on your computer. Look for updates weekly as there is no auto-update on the free version.
Can you access your CD drive and how is the computer operating?

Ok deleted SDfix, Emptied Recycle bin.
Just tried to run a cd (that I'm positive doesn't have a virus - its the driver CD for my camcorder that I have installed before) and I get a popup saying "Malicious code found in D:\Install.exe . Infection: Trojan.Win32Agent.wer
Action:failedI can't even close that popup it keeps coming back "F-Secure Anti-virus"
I think my boyfriend had Bitcomet running this morning, could that have screwed something up?

See if you can locate D:\install.exe, if you can do the following:
Please go to Virus Total and upload the following file for analysis:
D:\install.exe
Use the browse button at the site to find the file, once you find the file double click it and it should appear in the empty space to the left of the browse button> click "send file".
Post the results in your reply.

it says... "0 bytes size received / Se ha recibido un archivo vacio
"
(But I am double clicking it, and it is taking a few seconds to send the file.)when I put in the Disc, again, shawsecure popped up and said "Virus detected Trojan.Win32.Agent.wer and also said "the infected file is in read only media and cannot be processed automatically."
Very strange - the CD is a driver disc from sony for my camcorder that I have installed several times in the past after reformats & on my old computer. I'm trying to use it to stream as a webcam. If the CD was in the drive while I was infected, could the virus have added itself to the CD??

hi again.. I haven't heard anything in response to my last post.. is no news bad news? Am I clean?? (I have a ton of files on the computer I need to backup but want to wait so that I'm not backing up copies of a potential virus as well....
Thanks again for everything!

No it could no copy itself to the CD in my opinion. Sony had some iffy items in files at one time and there may be one that disk that was considered spyware.
I would get my files backed up, run the computer for a while, if no other problems occur consider the computer clean.

all seemed to be going well.... untill yesterday. I turned off the computer before going to work, and when my BF turned it on, it ran for a few seconds then shut itself off. Now it won't turn on at all. We have tried unplugging re-plugging in, double checking the connections... nothing, the fan doesn't even start when we press the power button...... Could this be a result of the virus we had?

Sounds like one of these possibilities:
1. The power outlet circuit breaker tripped.Try a lamp or something in that outlet and make sure it works.
2. The power cord came loose on the back of the computer. Reseat the power cord on the back of the computer.
3. If you have a surge supressor bypass it to make sure it did not fail.
4. The power supply unit has failed on the computer.

Thanks for the reply!
The router is plugged into the same surge protector, and it is still running fine, the power cord is plugged in, and the wall seems to be ok.....
Guess that means we're taking it to the repair shop.. *sigh*.... could the virus we had have done this?

I have never seen a virus take out a power supply, I have seen them damage a motherboard. Do you get any sign of power such as a light comming on?
