Okay so today I came across a computer that is infected with spyware and I suspect a virus and or trojan. It seems to have removed the admin privileges to the admin account... Has anyone seen this before and does anyone know of a workaround to get them back when you have no account (apparently) with admin rights? I would think it made an alternate account with admin rights but I cannot find one. Thanks!

John

What have you done to identify and clean the infection? If you boot to Safe Mode, you should be able to access the Default Admin account.

Life's more painless for the brainless.

I already wiped the computer because it was not letting me do anything but...

I did try safe mode (unfortunately, they were operating with the administrator account the whole time) and the infection was persistent in safe mode as well. I even tried safe mode with command prompt and tried typing "control" after logging in. Still would not let me do it.

I figure some kind of solution would involve getting a registry editor and adding back the rights to that machine (bartpe maybe?).
