WindowsXP OS.

I am considering using cable instead of dial up. My bro has cable and it is always on, even if you shut the computer off, which means no virus protection right or wrong? Same with zone alarm or any firewall its on if the computer is on. If my thinking is correct, how would I protect my computer since I dont want to leave it on all the time. My bros doesn't worry about it but I do. Anybody?

Rest assured that there is no way to infect
your computer when it is shut off.

If you are really that paranoid over nothing
then I'm sure D-Link or Linksys would like
to get some of your hard earned cash in
exchange for a cable/dsl router which acts
as a hardware firewall.
