My husbands machine picked up a wierd virus last week which we can not seem to get rid of and no virus scan is picking up. Originally this was a win2000 machine which last week started typing numbers after each letter you pushed on the keyboard Exp. r76584 if you hit the r key. Scanned with spybot, adaware, registry mechanic and Norton 2005 nothing finds it. Affect even a clean boot using norton CD and the command prompt. Gave up repartitioned, reformatted and installed XP as a totally clean OS and now it is back. Did a restore to original load date 2 days ago and got the machine back turned off restore to erase any virus that may be in restore files ran online norton and machine norton and a few hours later it is back again. The only file loaded onto this machine from the old is a microsoft money file ran NOrton on floppy before instalation and no virus was detected. I am going nuts does anyone have a clue what this virus is or how to combat. All memory scans say memory is also clear

Did you run McAfee's Stinger, Trend Micro Housecall, or Kaspersky's Online Scanner?
Norton doesn't pick up everything..

hi brandy, could be a keyboard problem. try using another keyboard, or if the problem persists could be that your keyboard drivers are corrupted. others in this forum will probably come up with other solutions soon. all the best, murve
