Use known good restore point or backup to a time when it was not there.

Use AV to remove.

Reload the os from scratch. It is the only way to be sure you remove rootkits.

Stop running as admin, stop turning off uac.keep an up-to-date security suite and maybe keep away from bad sites, get a good hosts file too.

Go to the Virus section of this board ...

You will need to run TDSSKiller.exe (free) made by Kaspersky antivirus group. It does remove this rootkit..

Would not hurt to run Malwarebytes Antimalware (free) full scan. Remove what it finds.

If you have trouble getting the programs above to run you will need to boot into Safe Mode (reboot and tap the F8 key in one second intervals, choose Safe Mode with Networking) and run RKILL (free) .. do not reboot . go ahead and run the 2 programs above before rebooting...

RKILL does not remove anything .. all RKILL does is stop the processes running (hooks) that are preventing the security programs we want to run to run. Once you reboot the processes will restart, Thats the reason for running those programs after RKILL and before rebooting.

I would also run a temp file cleaner .. Allot of viruses hide in the temp file ares and reinstall themselves from there,

Download CCleaner from CCleaner.com (free) and once open go to options >> advanced and uncheck "only delete windows temp files older than 24 hours" then run the ccleaner. :)

Let us know how you do.

"Let us know how you do."

Clearing a virus is easier than getting a reply sometimes!
