HEllo, I am experiencing severe problems with my computer at the moment.
When I turn it on my Norton Antivirus shuts down, claiming "this program has commited an illegal action..."
After that, we3ll nothing really works as it should, the computer does random reboots, works slowly, and generally increases my blood pressure.
Other than that, I've been trying to get into antivirus sites but whenever I try to turn on/install any of my security programs they just shut down, not telling me anything. Same goes for my browser, it shuts down whenever I try to surf to a site that could potentially help me. (Before anyone asks, I'm writing this from my 2nd computer).
IF anyone has any idea how to fix this I would be most grateful.

Try to get a dos based scanner. I know f-prot has one. It wont fit on a flopy, but if you can make a bootable cd. If you can get in to safe mode network support you may be able to get online. Then you can just save it to c: drive and boot off a flopy. you could try scanning in safe mode.

If the drive is NTFS (and many are) that won't likely be feasible

Go to macafee and download stinger , it is a standalone AV that works on a lot of the viruses that disable your AV . This may clean it up enough to get your cleanup started.

Hello, I've tried Running Safe mode and downloading the stinger but neither have helped. Safe mode has same kind of problems as the normal windows and Stinger doesnt find anything.
Seems that a full format and reinstall might be the easiest way of dealing with this.

Is you are able to get online in safe mode, why not try symantec online scanner for help? It does help a little else you may need to format your pc. I personally afraid of format pc due to the time consent.
