Virus is eating space on my C drive from 6GB free to 384MB

Specs: Windows XP, Pentium 4
The free space on my "C" drive wen t from 6GB to 384MB in three days. No rton 360 is running. I suspect a virus. How do I find and get rid of it?

If you have Norton running in the background, it's probably Norton eating the space. Stop Norton from scanning. Most people on here don't care for Norton products. I would suggest you get rid of it and use a good Free antivirus program like Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials. Both free and don't chew up resources like Norton.

I can tell when Norton is doing its scan tell. The drive LED blinks. Besides what is Norton doing with all that spce?

From what I've read, the latest Norton is no longer the big bad wolf the old ones used to be.

I ran the CClean_slim. Did not fix problem. Also SYSTEM MECHANIC and SPEEDYPCPRO. No virus or malware was found.

Try MalwareBytes freebie, this sometimes finds things that Anti-virus programs miss.
