Laptop, slow shutdown & bootup. Once up to blank screen, message on infected file. Can navigate to applications/event viewer, but cannot assess any other windows including "START". I have USB stick with symantec file to help restruct registry and eliminate trojan. How to I bypass bootup & go straight to dos, or else, how to I activiate the GUEI structure with the strt taskbar so I can continue trying to hopefully correct the virus proglem.

Reply:

Try tapping the F8 key during boot-up.
Tap the key multiple times.
That should get you into Safe Mode.

HTH,
JB.
