Hi! Can someone please tell me how to cope with a virus in my Temp registers?
How do I delete the files? Also, they sometimes show up in Config. And do you know what they want to do to my computer? Part of them are restore files.
Thanks!

Hi, most of the time viruses in Temp folders can be killed by deleting the temporary files. If you are talking about them being in the System Restore files too, disable System Restore and delete the past restore points.
This is done by right-clicking on your Local Disk and choosing properties, it will take you to an option to clean Temp files. You can also click the Advanced tab for more cleaning options, including deleting Restore points. When the virus is gone, you can enable System Restore again.
As far as what the virus wants to do, it's the same as all viruses, screw your system up and give you a headache.

Try going to start>run>type "cleanmgr" without the quotes>ok, when it loads select:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files
Temporary Files
then click ok.Empty the recycle bin.
Update your antivirus and run a full scan or you can run a free online scan Housecall
Purge the restore folder. Go to start>control panel>system>system restore>check the box beside "turn off system restore" >apply>ok. Reboot the computer and go back turn system restore back on.
The ones showing up in msconfig may be spyware/adware/malware and can be a virus but to identify the files associated a Hijack This log may be needed if this forum permits it.You can download Hijack This at this link http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ then place it into a folder of it's on, such as C:\HJT, so that back up copies can be made and not clutter your desktop or other folders and the backup copies of deleted items can be easily located if needed.
Once saved double click HijackThis.exe, and press "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents into the text editor.Do not fix anthing yet. Let someone review your log.
