I am able to make a connection to the internet but am unable to browse the internet. Also, my cpu usage is constantly at 100% whether i'm connected to the internet or not. I tried going into safe mode and doing a system restore, this worked for a week then it started to do the same thing. I tried again to go into safe mode and do the system restore but it doesn't work anymore. I have spybot, and mcafee and they don't find anything. please help Andrew

what you should do in safe mode is run your virus scan, not a system restore. Jen

I did run my virus scan but it is not upto date and it doesn't find any viruses. I am unable to update my definitions for anti virus software. Also when i connect to internet and view my connection settings, it shows that it is sending packets out but very few are coming in.

If you can download Hijack This at this link http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ then place it into a folder of it's on, such as C:\HJT, so that back up copies can be made and not clutter your desktop or other folders and the backup copies of deleted items can be easily located if needed. Once saved double click HijackThis.exe, and press "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button. Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents into the text editor to post the log. If you cannot download with the infected computer use the computer you are currently using and download Hijack This to a floppy or cd then run it on the infected computer.Make sure you write protect it if using a floppy by pushing the sliding tab into the locked position after loading HT onto it. Once you run the HT scan save the log to a floppy or cd and post it into this text editor. You can also download http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=stinger to a floppy or cd and run it, it may help.
