Virus from Grokster!

I have been using Grokster for quite a while now, and just now I started Grokster. When the advertisement windows appeared, so did Norton's virus alert window about JS.exception.exploit (infected file was in the temporary internet files directory). It couldn't repair, quarantine, or delete the file, but it didn't permit access to it either, so I'm probably safe for now. How do I stop ads from appearing with Grokster (or is there a better file-sharing program I should use)? Thanks.

The uninstall utility for grokster might remove the pop-ups. Sometimes.. even after the application is removed the pop-ups [spyware] continue.

Forgot to mention that I followed special install instructions to install Grokster without spyware (obtained from a website). It seems that all it did was remove the ads from the bottom of the UI cause the popup ads still happen.
