virus disabled Dell laptop keyboard

March 3, 2010 at 13:54:44
Specs: Windows Vista

can anyone help me please. I am very upset with the problem I am facing.

Some virus disabled my keyboard. The behavior of the virus was, that it opened up start and itself type something to search and disables the keyboard.
Then keyboard does not work even after restart.

I am even not able to go into BIOS.
onscreen keyboard worked, but after few times it also worked partially.

when I re-start my laptop, multiple beep sound comes.

neither of AVIRA , Macafe, Nortan scan helped.
except there were some detections in temporary internet files, which helped in starting just once.
After that the attack was back and this time scan did not even detected in temp.

Then I just came to know that this virus creates some Low folder in %TEMP%
I tried deleting it manually some times, but it just gave my computer some more breaths.

I was tired searching the problem on internet, then i formatted all my drives except recovery and reinstalled windows vista.

Saddest part is now that even after that the problem still persists.
my keyboard is still disabled.
Can anyone please help me out

Thanks,
[v v]

Hi,

My Sony vaio notebook is also affected from the same virus.
Some keys are disabled and some are consistently made active (sounds like they are pressed all the time, hence beep beep all the time).

How you could be able to get rid of such virus. Need help!

Thanks,
Atul

Hey, I also got that virus. I work with an ASUS 1000H Win XP SP3 RAM 1G, and I tried to get rid of it by getting back to an image of system at factory settings. I tried hard with several antivirus (McAfee, Kapersky, Malwarebytes) and nothing. None of them detected anything wrong. I purchased a USB keyboard and then, I could get into BIOS to restore image with Symantec Ghost 11.0. But the virus is still in the system. It can't be hardware problems, strange symptoms occur as I press space bar: spaces start going indefinite no matter I release my fingers from space bar, until laptop starts beeping... no way to get back it until reseting... Any ideas to solve infection?

"multiple beep sound comes."
check out these beep codes and see if they relate to your problem:
http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

I know you said keyboard doesn't work but maybe try tapping f8 on reboot to see if you can access safe mode with networking. Once in safe mode you can try to download these free cleaners and run them , removing all they find.
1- Trojan remover
2- Hitman Pro

If that doesn't work you may have to spend $10 on a usb keyboard just to get online and do some cleanups.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
