Product: Dell Xps m1330 notebook - customizable

Comment:

Not sure exactly what happened, but I think I may have opened a link that contains a virus which infected my notebook.

I think the same virus attacked someone else too, but he had the XP.

My computer rebooted and just kept rebooting endlessly. It boots all the way to the desktop, pauses for 5-10 sec, then reboots.

I was able to enter the safe mode, but when I attempted to restore the system, its telling me that the OS is corrupted, and couldn't perform the task.

How would I fix this problem? I really need my laptop, it has everything, both work and personal. Please help. Thanks!!

i tried that already, most of the repair options did not work, unless maybe i restore the notebook back to factory settings, but then i will lose all the files and programs. what should i do?

... do you have one of those cheapo usb sticks that you can save your files to...

... I could "pm" you a link of a boot-up "iso" that should see your harddrive and a usb stick so you can copy to it

... I'll have to test it first on a vista drive!

... let me know

well, since i really needed to use my notebook yesterday, i went into safe mode, backed up all the files, and set the computer back to factory setting, although it was a pain reinstalling some programs i needed, the problem was resolved. i will make sure not to mess with any unknown links now. thanks so much for your help.
