My GF allowed her sister to go online & check her email while here for Easter. No one has used this pc since. I just tried to go online & check my email (outlook express ), But I can't open "any" program on my pc. Even when I try to right click & choose properties,I don't even get a drop down menue, nothing happens. I have norton securities but can't get into it. I really need to run a virus scan, if there's any way for me to do this in a safe mode or some other way??,without being in windows.? Please...Please let me know A.S.A.P.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks in advance,
Maxx.

have you tried going in to safe mode and doing a system restore to before the the problem?
Also Norton security is definately not my choice of AV.
You can D/L avast free from the link in this post and allow it to do a bootscan on reboot...you may be advised on what Norton has missed, that's for sure.

You may have to download avast by using safe mode with networking....that is IF you have high speed internet. You can also do online scans with the same.

That's great, thanks But what if I can't get anything to work, I mean "Nothing" at all, not even able to re-boot the pc properly. How do I go about getting into safe mode.?
Sorry for sounding so duhhh...lol but I'm still sorta new at this. I've never had a virus to date, guess I've been lucky, But I've also never let anyone else use my pc in fear of this kinda thing happening. All my sister inlaw keeps saying, " I didn't do anything". Ya right.!!
anyway, any kinda good help is muchly appreciated.
Thanks,
Maxx

Thanks for all your help people. Being able to restore my pc back to last week did the job, & it gave my Norton the chance to catch something called,
"Downloader Mislead App."

Thanks again folks.
