Best...Depends on if you wanna pay money. For spyware I would suggest Spybot S&D. For Adware, I would suggest Adaware Personnel SE, and for AV I would suggest AVG.

The best best programs for AV, FW & anti-spyware is always subject to controversaries. No two people think alike. But I can tell you this - the best is YOU yourself - where you go (avoid the forbiddened), how careful you are and you don't click on anything that pops up in front of you. AV, FW and anti-spyware are utterly useless if you are not careful yourself.

XpUser is right one with his observation. The best firewall is a hardware firewall! They cost about what a software firewall does for just a year subscription, but it is a permanent solution They are available from DLink(604), Linksys, SMC, Belkin. My suggestion for an antivirus program would be either Kaspersky, NOD32, or F-Secure.
