HELP!! Time changed to military with "VIRUS ALERT!" displayed next to it. No access to programs in start menu. I have downloaded HijackThis from several different locations, but will not allow me to install the program. Same with Spybot Search & Destroy. I am blocked from most websites (including those with helpful software), and now something is secretly disabling my cookies.

Try running hijackthis, etc. from safe mode.

Okay, this did a scan but will not correct any problems? Help

Here's some info on the malware version: http://www.sophos.com/security/anal... Try running something like malwarebytes: http://www.download.com/Malwarebyte... I've never used it but apparently it's pretty good. I'm not sure if this 'free to try', 'protection module disabled' version will allow you to fix the problems or if it just tells you what the problems are. But give it a try. There are older versions you can select that might not have any restrictions. If you delete the 2 entries using hijackthis you should remove the actual files too. Hijackthis only removes the references in the registry and startup--not the files themselves.
