I seems that just after a few days of rebuilding my computer, it is infected yet again.

Symptoms:
-My start menu bar changed from the usuall windows XP silver theme to the old school windows classic gray theme. Note only my start menu is like that. Any other applications i open still keep that theme.
-The bigger problem: I can double click my broad band and say "connect" all i want, but afterwards i still get no internet. No window appears if i double click the internet icon to see my current internet status.

So far i have installed Zone Alarm, Avast!Antivirus. I have also installed ABC "Another Bit Torrent Client" could that have brought in a virus/trojan with it? I have also installed DivX Codec from the main website and UnrealTournament 2004Demo in addition to photoshop 8.0 trial, win rar, quicktime, icq, msn. That is all.

Could a virus survive a reformat of the drive? because i had a virus before but my dad said that reformating the computer is the way to go and i did it. And now he is blaming me for the problems for installing games and other stuff. I have NOT installed any p2p sofware BESIDES "Another Bittorrent Client" from the official home page. Should i post a Hijack this log? if so please authorize me.

I have also began to look at my "Processes" tab in the Windows Task Manager. Here i list some of the processes that seem weird/suspicious to me:

ashSimpl.exe
nvsvc32.exe
ashServ.exe
aswUpdSv.exe
alg.exe
spoolsv.exe
ctfmon.exe - Note: i cant seem to stop this from starting up, when i tried to disable it in the start up tab, it didnt work, it just came back.
svchost.exe - Note: i seem to have three of these running.
lsass.exe
services.exe
winlogon.exe
csrss.exe
smss.exe

Please help as the computer problems have been going on for around 2 months now and its getting on my nerves >.<''

Thank you for all your troubles

one Further Note:

AFter un-installing divX codec, when i attemted to run any media files (mpeg, mp3) it failed and gave me a error telling me that i am missing a mixer device or something, and now i have no sound. This was what happened to my computer before and i find it weird that it should happen again weeks after i re-install windows.

First you might not have a virus, google search for all those proccessing and see what it says, have a look at the propties of the task bar, see if any setting are differnt, and of course just do a system restore if you want
