my system has been taken over by virtual bouncer. After speaking to a specialist, he informed me to delete all virtual bouncer files. I got them in the recycling bin, but the will not erase. (keeps saying the files in use and can't be deleted) Does anyone know how to delete these files?

hi nancy,
when deleting a software program you should delete from your control panel, (add and remove programs.)
try going into safe mode and delete those files in your recycle bin from there. if doesn't work then do it in dos.
i don't think virtual bouncer is a good prog, better off using adaware, or spybot search and destroy,
for more info on spyware go to www.thepublicworks.com security section and link to spywareinfo.
hope this helps,
murve

"We are aware that there is a problem that a small percentage of our users are having uninstalling Virtual Bouncer. We're working to auto-update the affected users with a fix.

In the meantime, follow the removal instructions at http://www.spywarelabs.com/support.html if you are having any trouble removing the product."

I think the most important topic ABNORMAL or any other member of the Virtual Bouncer team should address is, "How the heck did Virtual Bouncer get installed into my computer in the first place?"
I suddenly started noticing that my HD was being cycled at odd times! Then I get a Virtual Bouncer "warning" wanting to remove my COOKIES list that I have enabled! If I want to disable COOKIES, I'll do it myself!

--How it got on my computer--

A thing poped-up asking if I wanted to install virtual bouncer because it could get rid of parasites that can take my passwords and all that stuff. I clicked no, it asked if I was sure, because my computer was could "be in danger" (which isnt possible because im behind 4 fire walls and 6 routers) and I clicked Yes, Im sure. Next thing I see in a minute or two, is "Virtual Bouncer Has been installed Successfully". Im thinking "Um, escuse me? I said no."

--What I want to do about them--

Now, I feel that there is some way that I can get into the Judicial system with whoever Made this program, since they have it installing itself on my computer after I said TWICE not to. Does anyone have a web-site link for that Virtual Bouncer thing? So I can let the authorities know about it? Because Trust me, I don't think its for "eliminating" spyware, I think it IS spyware. If anyone has a link to their web-site please let me have it so I can get them shut down.

Thank you.

I also had Virtual Bouncer ask if I wanted it to install on my computer and I responded NO! and It still went ahead and installed itself. I would like to know what can one do about these type of programs or programers any kind of legal action on can take?

I am running WinXP Home, and the virtual bouncer came up in my startup folder. There was no entry for it in Add/Remove programs in Control panel. Though Spybot S&D lists it as a malware, running the Spybot S&D did not remove or detect it. Then I found VB sitting in my Norton Protected Recycle bin (and emptying the protected files did not purge it, since it compresses itself to a resident file and keeps coming back). This is how I got rid of it finally. I deleted all the registry entries for virtual bouncer using regedit, and THEN deleted files in the recycle bin named '00024141.exe' and some other files with filenames like '000.....'. I hope this helps.

My screen name on this forum well describes the high
quality bull s--- that the virtual bouncer
software provides. Any one who would program a software application without giving the user
the freedom of uninstalling it(or not installing it in the first place)obviously
could care less about the user... and you want me to beleive that virtual
bouncer helps me??? right..

I have found Virtual Bouncer to be a Virtual Nusiance. Adaware could not effectively remove it, it seems only to remove part of it, and like a virus it seems to come back.(Its policy of loading without permission smells like a virus to me!)
Effective removal seems only to work starting with deleting the registry keys associated with it, then running msconfig and unchecking the startup boxes for it. Then remove it from your ram (cntrl+alt+dlete) under "running proccesses"
next, search your drive for these files and delete them:
virtualbouncer.exe
While your at it, look for these annoyances:
weather.exe
precisiontime.exe
save.exe
you may want to delete them too.(they may be related)
when you reboot, keep using selective startup ( check the "dont show this message again box."
If you are running xp or xp pro, make sure you have disabled "universal plug-n-play" under
msconfig services tab. (not the "plug-n-play entry.) That prevents programs that disguise themselves as some useful peice of hardware from being automatically loaded on by your beloved windows os.
