On startup of computer on arriving at desktop screen goes black with a message "Video Mode not supported". Pressing any key then brings us to desktop as 'normal'.
Ran Grisoft virus checker and two viruses were found, "bugbear" and "W32/Opaserv" and 'fixed'.
"Video Mode....." problem still occurs on startup of computer.
Computer does function normally though occasionally black screen with message occurs and computer freezes and has to be rebooted.
Monitor is a TFT Samsung syncmaster 151s. Has been working up until infection with no problems. Checked refresh rate for monitor and altered from optimal to 60MHz (manual recommends this rate) and again on bootup "Video mode not supported". Have re-installed drivers for monitor. Computer then has to be restarted for reconfig and strangely on restart grisoft detects the Opaserv virus. This was then 'healed' again but still problem black screen occurs. Repeated driver reinstallation again with same result. Looking at other forum postings the Grisoft update may not be 100% effective for Opaserv, but that is another story.
What I'd like to know is, has anyone else had this coincidental problem?
Does anyone think it is caused by the virus?

Think I have an idea why this message may have appeared. Again have omitted that when grisoft fixed "opaserv" on reboot the error "scrsvr is missing in win.ini file" appeared so I decided to just delete the line "run=c:\windows\scrsvr.exe" and that is when I got the black screen with "video mode not supported" error message.
Any suggestions
