My friend has a PC and download kazaar and he used adaware to remove all the spyware including new.net entries - Hes PC would nolonger connect to the internet - dial up was OK - but prblems with winsock, apart from this the PC worked OK. I found a website CEXX.org (http://cexx.org/lspfix.htm)which had a description of all the symptoms and some suggested fixes - so I ran the lspfix program and now when the PC boots in normal or safe mode I get the following error in RPCSS invalid page fault in module MSAFD.dll and the PC hangs.

I have deleted the file rpcss.exe and now get invalid page faults in MMKEYBD - and when i run outlook express it comes up with invalid page fault on MSIMN
any help

if you have a system restore point (if you're running xp, ME or 2k(?) ) dated before kazaa was installed, or ad-aware was ran, revert to it. then install kazaa-lite (which has no adware/spyware)
i can't think of anything else that would work other than a system repair or reinstallation of windows.

Summary of situation
I have a friends PC that has a problem with connection to Internet, via IE or Outlook or Cable broadband.
It had new.net loaded (via Kazaa) and using adware he removed some of the new.net components, which then stopped anything interfacing with the Internet, Looking at this website http://www.cexx.org - I think it removed winsock2. I went onto the internet via a 2nd PC and found http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm which highlighted all the problems I had plus a fix - so I applied the fix and when I rebooted the PC I had illegal operation in RPCSS. I was advised to rename this file, as it was not required with win98.
So I renamed and now I get invalid operation in MMkeyBd followed by MSAFD.dll.
I extracted the masfd file - but made no difference.
If I run any Internet type program Outlook express I get illegal operation in Msimn - IE6 illegal operation in explorer.
Is there any way to fix this without a rebuild? I only have a restore disk and to bring the system back to current status would take days.
