hello,
you can scan for viruses online, without actually installing anti virus, check housecall tool from trend micro. also, as you say you have some malware, you may need an anti spyware as well, cos anti virus takes care of viruses only. in case there's something malicious left after anti virus scan, download antispyware and run a scan.
good luck!

uninstall avast, then re-install it and say ok when it asks if you'd like to do a bootscan on reboot.

You can get to the boot-time scan option in avast without having to re-stall it.

It is best to run this way if it is already installed as it will be armed with the most up to date virus definitions.

Open up Avast from your desktop, or click "start" > "all programs" > "Avast! antivirus"

Once it is open, click on the button at the top left that looks like an eject button, now click "schedule boot-time scan" and click "schedule".

Avast will now reboot your pc and run a scan during the boot process.

Quarantine everything Avast detects.
