Iam running comodo firewall with the free AVG antivirus. I got online tonight and Comodo alerted me that update.exe is attempting to modify/create all kinds of files. I read that update.exe is part of windows and kept allowing it.
Well ive clicked allow upwards of a HUNDRED TIMES and it keeps popping up no matter what i do!
As soon as i click allow or block it pops back up saying it wants to do something else. AVG says I dont have a virus, same as the scanner in comodo firewall.
The folder all this is coming from is C:\windows\software distributionWhat is this pest and how do i stop it or make it go away?
Oh and is it harmfull? Thanks for any/all help!

did this pop-up as you were receiving critical up-dates?

A little confused by your questio but nothing about Cnet popped up.
It seems to have stopped now and everything is running smoothly from what i can tell. Maybe just a glitch with the firewall and windows trying to auto-update or something? Thanks

>>>did this pop-up as you were receiving critical up-dates?<<<
The reason I asked this is because I got the same pop-up as I was up-dating my PC.

oh ok sorry Xpuser i didnt realize that was a signature at the bottom of your message.
It popped up when windows was automatically updating. I didnt know it was updating untill i looked into it further. All of the update.exe programs show up as microsoft applications whenever i view their properties so iam not worried about it. The annoying messages have stopped now :-D
I will check out the Sunbelt Kerio Firewall, thanks effient. Thanks for the replies everyone :-)

IMHO, I think Comodo Pro is the best choice, I've tried many of the others....but of course, it is up to the user.
I would be real cautious of response 4's link. Something is not right about it.Some HELP in posting on Cnet plus free progs and instructions Glad to Help!
