Do you have any "friends" that have access to your computer, that may have installed this little bug for you? Any chance that it came with a unscanned attachment from a "friend"?

Symantec lists a "joke" problem, and NAV will detect it. The informattion is listed here; http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/joke.noise.html

Have you run Symantec's on-line virus scan yet?

Response 1: Probably did get it from a friend unknowingly and AVG didn't pick it up.
Response 2 and 3 : No, I haven't tried that yet but will now. thanks!

I doubt if they will be listed, but maybe it is really from a friend that just wants to be funny and not cause you to much work. Check in add/remove programs for a program called joke or other strange program name. Then try the steps at this website,

Have you tried using the task manager to identify what the sounds programs are called? You could then search and delete them?
