Please can someone help me discover what I believe to be a virus, that I have picked up somewhere.
I scan everything I download with NAV 2007 (inc latest virus definitions) but since sat night, after a reboot the following symptons occured on restart:
* Windows XP Shutdown Button Missing
* System run command removed from start menu
* Admin privilidges disabled (i.e. Task manager, regedit ...)
* NAV 2007 software failuresBasically my first response was to disable my internet and try and sort out NAV but Nav did a full sweep and picked up nothing. Also NAV scans prior to Saturday picked up no problems. Thinking NAV was compromised, I cleaned the registry keys to allow me to accessing admin functions H-Key-User/Soft/MS/Wind/Policies... and then removed NAV including NAV cleaning tool.
I then downloaded AVG with definitions, Spysweeper, MS Malicious Software Detector and a number of Mcafee, Sophos specific cleaning tools, Spybot and a tool which cleans all the temp files, cookies, windows temp etc.. (But I cant remember the name to hand). On AVG install I got a warning saying AVG installed sucessfully but warned me that it couldnt couldnt access a particular reg entry (again cant remember which one exactly). None of these programs found anything unusual apart from a couple of tracking cookies and Spysweeper found a variant of the W32.Banker-GG. Im a little suprised that spysweeper found this and AVG NAV didnt unless it is a false positive, however after researching this virus/trojan it doesnt seem reposnsible for the symptons Im experiencing.
Ive noticed quite a few forum posts with this behaviour but nobody actually seems to recognise what virus is causing this (assuming it is malware). Can someone shed some light on it?

Dunno, but it might be worth downloading, installing, updating then running this freebie:
A-SQUARED FREE - JUST DOWN PAGE
It concentrates on trojans but also finds/fixes other malware.
